HomeOur experienceElectrical

Infrastructure projects are the cornerstone of our deep history. Our electrical capabilities have developed out of our tradition of working on railroad, bridge, and utility projects.

For over thirty years, our Electrical Division has performed services on heavy/civil, transportation, utility, industrial, commercial, telecommunications and building construction projects. With emerging markets, we see opportunities to serve a more sophisticated client in a timely way. We currently employ a solid core of professional, multidiscipline engineers and electricians. In partnership with the heavy/civil group, we are able to complete the most complex installations for time critical contracts.

Langham Hotel Switchgear Replacement

J.F. White was contracted by the Pacific Boston Holdings Corporation, owner of the Langham Hotel Boston to replace the existing switchgear and associated distribution panels. The hotel had been running on temporary switchgear since a fire had severely damaged the existing equipment.

Ted Williams Tunnel Highway Lighting LED Replacements

J.F. White contracted with MassDOT to update the lighting system in a critical Boston tunnel which connects Boston and Logan Airport. The project consisted of replacing the system with more than 3,000 new LED light fixtures, 80,000 LF of conduit and 1.7 million feet of cable. The process included replacing the lighting supports throughout the tunnel, a new lighting control system, and a new raceway and cable system for both normal and emergency light and power systems. The crews worked around the public by working in lane closure areas during the night shift.

Gas Protection Replacement

This project was an upgrade to the gas monitoring system in two buildings at the Deer Island Treatment Plant. Our crews removed and replaced 55 detectors throughout the buildings, reconnecting monitors to the system in the process, all during phased cutovers to not impact the critical response of the system in the operational buildings. The control panels were replaced with new PLC, I/O Racks, and an operator interface terminal.
