For more than 40 years, J.F. White has installed extensive track and related railroad infrastructure in the New England area. Our capabilities include freight, passenger, and transit trackwork, facilities, bridges, and tunnels. With our electrical division, we also have in-house experience and capabilities constructing traction power, controls, and signal infrastructure. The majority of our track experience has been on lines that maintained revenue service during our construction projects. We are well-versed in working around and maintaining service to the public.

Most important projects per specialty

Arlington & Copley Stations Rehabilitation

The Arlington/Copley Station Rehabilitation Project involved the renovation of two MBTA stations to allow handicap accessibility to the Green Line. The work included the installation of five new elevators, three new escalators, demolition and reconstruction of station platforms, system upgrades and station improvements.

Fitchburg Track and Signal

J.F. White / LM Heavy Civil Joint Venture was awarded this MBTA contract. Work on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line consisted of improvements to the existing tracks and signal systems including, but not limited to, track construction, track throws and realignment, 6 new interlockings, improvements to 2 existing interlockings, grade crossing rehabilitation, new Automatic Highway Crossing Warning Systems at grade crossings, new signal system, track surfacing and alignment, and the retirement or demolition of existing track, special track, and signal system elements.

Green Line Relocation, Haymarket to Science Park Stations

The construction of a new tunnel extension, a new 300 lf viaduct over Leverett Circle, and utility relocations, as well as new track work and special track work construction, overhead catenary traction power, signals, and communication systems in the Green Line tunnel under the Fleet Center.

Maverick Station Blue Line Modernization

Maverick Station is an underground station located on the MBTA Blue Line in East Boston, MA. The scope of work included the demolition, renovation, reconstruction and operations systems upgrade to the commuter station. The work also involved extensive reconstruction to the site and roadways around the station that required numerous roadway closures and detours to allow traffic to continue without interruption. The rerouting of busses and the construction of temporary bus stops was required to allow both bus service and construction to continue without inconvenience to either.
